Love Your Mama

And come to the Global Fund for Women benefit concert, held at Maxwell’s this Thursday (4.8.10)!  Doors open at 8pm, my trio and I are kicking off the night of music at 8:30pm.

As much as I’d like to think that women are treated fairly, my eyes have opened after learning about the Global Fund for Women and the statistics they gather on how that’s really not the case.  Especially in situations like in Haiti, women (and children for that matter) don’t receive as much aid and medical attention as men do. WTF, that’s not good. So I’m glad to have been invited by Steven Bailey a “Cultural Exchange Advocate,” and Nelson Pla, of the band “clueLess,” to be a part of the event.

A little about GFW and the benefit show (from stephenbailey.com):
Proceeds from the night will benefit the wonderful group Global Fund for Women. It is an international network committed to a world of equality and social justice. They advocate for and defend women’s rights by making grants to support women’s groups around the world. Since 1987, they have awarded over $71 million to 3,800 women’s organizations in 167 countries.

Make your mama proud and join us!!

Hey ya’ll, this is the first of hopefully many posts.  This spot is intended to be a place of progressive thought, to interact and engage about sustainability, and how music can help move people to Get On This Train.
